Totems, Kaitiaki, Guardians

If you talk to the animals, the plants, the ancient ones and the nature, spirits hey will talk to you And you will know each other, if you do not talk to each of them, You will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear. What one fears one destroys? To the ancient ones and many names given to the special nature people and energies, I pay my deep respects and wish to dedicate this workshop to the life-force of nature. Almost every culture on our planet acknowledge the existence of the nature people spirits all attached to nature the woods or forests.

They are often attached to magic of the plant medicines all of them are a little feared and are attached to weaving magic spells. I come from a very beautiful country that in the past was even more beautiful sadly a lot of our forests and birds fell victims of colonisation of the west. This has caused the indigenous people to place protection tapu on the remaining Land Sea and air we being the guardians. To encourage the peoples to practice ecology as their ancestors before them.

My people the indigenous of Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud) also known as New Zealand communicated with the animals, birds, fish, trees all plant life. They acknowledged and recognised the God of the Sea Tangaroa God of the Forest Tane Mahuta God of cultivated food and medicine the gentle one Rongoa and God of Earth Quakes Ruamoko and many other gods of nature or the planet. Animal, vegetable, and mineral are all mother earth Papatuanuku this approach to nature is still recognised and practiced to this day.

As a child I talked and played with the nature fairies Patupaiarehu they were called. Many of us saw them. When one needs food in the forest we must karakia to the god of the forest etc. We also must hear the request of the nature spirits and the totems and if the request is reasonable and within our power we will carry out their quests.

We expect the same service if our request are reasonable. As you know I still need to korero with nature (talk)
