Hikoi Wairua (Sacred Walk) 2010
This years theme for 2010
Te Whare Tapa Wha
Te taha wairua, te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha whanau
The Maori world view likenes a person to a spiritual house with four sides: the spiritual side, the physical side, the mind and the family relationship.
Your Hikoi will offer many opportunities to explore the four cornerstones to your life.

Te rohe (tribal area) of Te Whanau-a-Apanui is a long narrow strip of land that follows a spectacular coast line eastwards for approximately 100 kilometers, beginning at Haawai and ending at a place called Potaka. The horizon is dominated by an active volcano on an island 40 km off shore known by Maori as Whakaari (non Maori White Island.) The road meanders up hill and down dale often looking straight down into the sea (Hine Moana) whose color changes with her mood. There are many rivers and streams that tumble from the Te Raukumara ranges which rise quickly from the sea. Enjoy the hospitality our extended whanau offers, the beaches, our waterfall, Whanarua Bay, the spiritual energy and the sub tropical climate.
