RESPONSIBILITY . My ancestors say to me, "How will you feed all the people in the universe with only the tuna (eels) and inanga (whitebait) in your rivers? There are not enough tuna (eels) and inanga (whitebait) in your rivers to feed all the people in the universe"

My reply to my ancestors, "You have taught me well I will teach them to fish in their own rivers."

My ancestors replied, "what tools would you use Surely they don’t have flax like ours?"

My reply to my ancestors, "I will teach them like you taught me. I will teach them how to swallow from the baskets of knowledge. I will say to each one take this waiata Take this sound and go away.

Keep your special sound. Play with it. Feel its vibration and know it is you. When I call you back to this place with your sound. join your sound with others. For this is your sound your life-force, your Mauri.

Take this breath deep inside Allow it to roll in your stomach then let go of the breath with a mighty sigh, “Tihei Mauriora” (the breath of life).

This breath will it will carry wisdom the comprehension of harmony. There cannot be a tune that is not unique and does not carry its own specialty, does not have its own place, that nothing or no one can replace.

Can you be the sea the trees the birds the insects the valleys the mountains the rivers can all these wondrous fragments be you. Yet that is what I am saying your sound is you but only when you come together and breathe that sound do you see the miracles.

Karakia

I sit beneath my tree calling to the spirit of my Mother Earth and Sky Father to join me as I embark on this Journey.

Sky Father join with me as I embark on this journey through the heavens with in the planets. Earth Mother join with me as I embark on this journey within Planet Earth.

To my Whanau (family), Nga Hau e Wha (the four winds) clear my way with your breath of any obstruction that may seek to block me.

To my Whanaunga (family member) Ruamoko (God of Earthquakes and Fire), as I enter the underworld on this Journey hold the heat in your hands so I feel not the discomfort.

To my Whanaunga Tane Mahuta (God of the Forest) Clear the way for me so that I can communicate once again with all my extended family your children. The birds, the insects the creatures of the Forest the trees the plants.

To my Whanaunga Rongomatane allow me to taste again the Knowledge of the medicines the nourishments of the cultivated crops.

To my Whanaunga Tangaroa (God of the /sea). Call up the seaweed, the Sacred Whale to carry me through the Seas as my Journey is of great importance.

To all my family that I have not named, I call upon you to support me in this most important Quest.

If I should fall ill allow me to take the cures of the waters, rock the elements.

I call upon Sky Father to give me safe passage on my journey through the heavens, that my visions be focused and woven into my dream time, so that I can record my journey for the insights that lie in my Matakite memory.

I call upon the Matakite knowing memory attached to my genetic knowing to draw closer and overshadow me with the Korowai (Cloak). Allowing me to open that part, that is an intrinsic part to me, so that I am able to tap on the collective consciousness of all knowing the Matakite. Internally and externally, to enable me to weave the knowledge of my journey as a record for the new age of holistic balance.

Finally I see myself as the Matakite healer of my country, planet and universe.

AMEN
